From first time novice to Advanced Driver Education

2 Day Introductory Course

The 2 day introductory 4WD course will provide skills in every kind of 4WD terrain including track appreciation, mud driving, steep inclines and declines, river crossings, sand driving, rocky terrain, wheel placement and engine braking, with advice on snow driving.

Recovery Techniques

4WD recovery skills are covered such as use of snatch straps, manual and electric winches and exhaust jacks. Advice on convoy procedure, communications equipment, camping gear and accessories is also provided.

Advanced 4WD Driver Training

See the benefit of tapping into the knowledge of the Out Of Town Training Team. With over 25 years of experience in 4WDing on some of the hardest tracks Australia has to offer, the Advanced Driver Training Course will assist to further your 4WD ability to keep you out of trouble in the rough stuff.

Additional Notes

All Trainers have current training certification First Aid certificate holder on all courses Courses are BYO to keep costs down. Learn in 2 days, skills which will last you a lifetime. Skills in 4WD driving and recovery techniques as specified in certificate III in Outdoor Recreation SRO 03.

What Out Of Town 4WD Provide

All course instructors have nationally accepted training qualifications, and at least five years experience in the art of 4WDriver training. They will provide training and lots of helpful advice to help you increase your skills and make the use of your 4WD a safe and enjoyable experience.

The off road training is done in specially designed and approved areas, and the sand training utilises the magnificent Stockton beach and dunes.

The 4WD Driver training courses are designed to be fun and safe. They are not intended to damage vehicles or place people at risk. You may be a novice or an expert; whatever your level of skills, we guarantee that you will learn new techniques and have an enjoyable day in the process.

 

Introductory 4WDriving Training (Off Road and Sand / 2 Days)

This training covers the Australian National Training Authority Units of Competence:

 

SRO DRV 001B - Drive and recover a four wheel drive vehicle

SRO OPS 001B - Implement minimal environmental impact practices.

SRO ODR 002A - Plan outdoor recreation activities.
TDTB 497B - Carry out vehicle inspection
From Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation

It consists of the two by one day introductory training programs and is held over one full weekend.  Accommodation may have to be considered if participants have to travel any considerable distance.  Successful participants are issued with a nationally recognised

Statement of Attainment.

 

Advanced 4WDriving and Recovery Training (1 Day)

This training requires prior completion of the Introductory Training or Recognition of Prior Learning, and covers the Australian National Training Authority Units of Competence:

 

SRO DRV 002B - Drive a four wheel drive vehicle in difficult terrain using advanced techniques
SRO DRV 003B - Coordinate recovery of a four wheel drive vehicle using advanced techniques
 
This training incorporates all components of the Introductory Training at an advanced level as well as advanced driving and recovery techniques, and low environmental impact touring and camping.  During the training participants will travel through local State Forests to practice their newly acquired skills.

Successful participants are issued with a nationally recognised

Statement of Attainment.
